Field Radio and Systems Engineer

Mount Campbell Communications Limited is expanding and developing its radio networks and site infrastructure across the top of the South Island. We are extending our DMR Tier III network and associated digital inter-site linking. Support for analogue conventional, DMR Tier II, and point-to-multipoint radio services is also required.

Attributes in the following areas is required:

  • Radio network programing and configuration
  • RF antenna systems, combining and multi-coupling
  • IP and Ethernet addressing and routing
  • Service radio equipment to board level components
  • Ability to design and specify radio networks
  • Coverage prediction and link planning
  • Networking monitoring using PRTG
  • Use of Microsoft Visio and as well as other standard Microsoft suite.
  • Strong background in mobile radio
  • Availability for callout work for networks faults.
  • Ability to supervise and direct staff and contractors

Essential Skills:

  • A solid theoretical understanding of RF and Radio systems. and practical experience.
  • An understanding of TCP/IP networking and addressing.

In addition:

  • Highest regard for the health and safety of everyone on site, and the public.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral and the ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Strong logic in fault finding and problem-solving ability.
  • Full driver’s license.
  • Enthusiastic ‘can do’ attitude with a strong work ethic.
  • Be healthy and physically fit.

The position is based in Nelson and as it is an important and key role the position will be paid commensurate with the experience and skills of the applicant.

We are looking for a bright energetic and capable radio field engineer with at least a tertiary qualification. The person must be fit and resourceful as well as being able to communicate well with other Mount Campbell team members. Outdoor field work is required and this involves four-wheel drive vehicle and helicopter operations.

  • Strong logic in fault finding and problem-solving ability.

Mobile Radio Installer

Mount Campbell Communications Ltd is a specialist Mobile Radio provider supplying radio communications solutions across the top of the South Island.

We are seeking a Radio Equipment Installer, based Nelson to carry out installations into vehicles, machinery and customer premises of the following products;

Mobile Radio Telephones GPS Navigation, and Vehicle Location Cellular Telephone Coverage and Handsfree Solutions Specialist vehicle mounted electronic equipment.

You will also support our radio technicians from time to time on the implementation of site infrastructure and fault response.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding and background in the automotive electronics industry with an interest in Radio Communications. The ability to work unsupervised as well as work in a team environment, and represent our company with confidence and professionalism are a must. We value technological competence and attention to detail.

This role would suit an experienced auto electrician or similar and additional job training will be provided.

You will have the capacity to work quickly and efficiently, with good organizational and planning skills. You will enjoy the customer contact and getting out and about to clients sites.

Hours of work are Mon–Fri, 8am-5pm with the occasional flexibility to adjust hours to suit customer requirements. Company vehicle provided limited to travel to and from work.
